Education is seen in its general sense by Wikipedia as a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, or research.
Most people haven’t yet answer the question “how can education have influence on the future?”. This is because they weren’t able to properly fathom the content of education. Education has a greater role to play in directing us to a brighter future which is the simple answer but does not end there. The question needs to be deeply and well answered.
Education could further and better be classified into two main categories which are the formal and informal education, amid there are other types of education of which these two are widely known and recognised. Formal education is a type of education where teaching and learning is done in a well-organised and structured manner unlike the informal education which is practised in the other way round.
Formal education as widely known is observed mostly in well-systemised schools with well-structured syllabi where well trained and requisite tutors are employed to transfer skills and knowledge to pupils or students. These skills and knowledge will empower the students for better employment and living in life.
Also within the formal education system, it is necessary to distinguish between the academic subject curriculum and the hidden curriculum (most of which are taught and learned in the informal system of education) which comprises of cultural and moral values, attitudes and norms that is implicitly conveyed to pupils by teachers’ actions.
The cultural and moral values are widely taught and learned in the informal system of education by the media, organisations, churches, mosques and several other sectors of informal education amid some of them are done formally. This helps the youth to acquire the knowledge and values that help them lead a better lifestyle.
The home which has not been mentioned is a value sector involved in the informal education where children acquire home education that will sometimes not going to be taught and learned in the formal education system.
For this reason both formal and informal education should both be taught and learned so as to create a better future. Good mechanisms should be employed for this to be attained.
